Every day, millions of people around the world are diagnosed with brain diseases. Be inspired to fund research that finds cures.

Your brain helps you to move, talk, think and feel. Until it doesn’t. Even with all the advances in medicine, most brain diseases still have no cure.

Every day, millions worldwide are diagnosed with brain diseases like dementia, motor neurone disease (MND), mental health disorders and traumatic brain injury. The impact is also felt by millions more who care for them.

To make tomorrow’s medical breakthroughs, we need to invest in discovery research today. That is what QBI’s Brain Research Endowment Fund does. That is how you can help our researchers make discoveries and innovate.

Be inspired. Fight brain disease by giving today.

Our goal this UQ Giving Day is to grow the QBI Brain Research Endowment Fund by $170,000.

Every gift is meaningful.

Professor Massimo Hilliard leads a research team focused on understanding how nerve cells develop, maintain their structure and repair.

“I wish to express my sincere gratitude for your kind donation to research in our Institute and to the QBI Brain Research Endowment Fund. Your gift will contribute significantly to investing in fundamental research, which is the key to building a foundation of knowledge to find effective treatments for brain diseases,” Professor Hilliard said.

Every contribution further motivates scientists like Professor Hilliard and his team as they strive to understand the brain, develop better treatments and, one day, find cures.

Double your donation and unlock $50,000 in additional funding for the QBI Brain Research Endowment Fund!

Thanks to the generosity of Maureen Stevenson, Kay Ilett and an anonymous donor, your gift to the QBI Brain Research Endowment Fund will be matched and you will help unlock an additional $50,000 in matched funding this UQ Giving Day.

The difference you can make

$100 – could buy essential equipment that MND researchers use every day.

$500 – could help researchers study biological samples to provide better insights into mental health disorders.

$1,000 – could help researchers identify certain brain cells in tissue samples to help explain why certain toxic proteins build up in dementias.

$5,000 – could assist ribonucleic acid (RNA) researchers purify samples to better understand the fundamental molecular mechanisms underlying fear-related learning and memory.

$10,000 – could fund a top-up scholarship student for one year of their 3-year PhD program to pave the way for new research avenues.

$15,000 – could help researchers pinpoint genetic markers that guard against inherited diseases.
