Support the problem solvers, critical thinkers and leaders of tomorrow to realise their potential
The career paths of our science graduates are many and varied, and they make meaningful contributions to organisations and communities around the globe. Their UQ science education lays the foundation and builds the skills they need to create change.
This scholarship provides transformative support to talented science students who are facing financial hardship.
All gifts to the Science Leaders Scholarship will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000 thanks to the generosity of Emeritus Professor Susan Hamilton, who has had a distinguished career in molecular biology and biotechnology, both as a researcher and an educator.
This match was created to inspire the community to get involved in a gift of any size. Susan's support for students, and advocacy for women in science particularly, has contributed to a diverse and inclusive UQ science community, which is what the Science Leaders Scholarship is all about.
As a special bonus for 2023, the Faculty of Science will also match every gift, meaning every dollar you donate will be tripled.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to transform the lives of Queensland’s young scientists.
Every gift has impact
Past Science Leaders Scholarship recipient Christian Kennedy explained how much of an impact this support has had on his study journey and his confidence.
"This Scholarship has not only allowed me to concentrate on my studies during my Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours) last year, but it also supported me in the following months before starting my PhD at UQ,” Christian said.
“Being a recipient of the scholarship has also helped give me confidence because, when things are challenging, I remember that people believed in me and decided to give me this wonderful opportunity.”
