Empower promising Indigenous students to achieve their goals and aspirations through a world-class university education.
Every year, across all faculties, an increased number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are choosing to enrol at UQ.
However, Indigenous students often carry a higher financial burden than their non-Indigenous peers, which can adversely affect their studies. Scholarship support is the most important factor to enable students to succeed in their studies and continue pursuing their ambitions.
The academic excellence achieved by UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students is a testament to their resilience, hard work and their ability to overcome challenging circumstances. The security that a scholarship offers makes all the difference in opening the door for these determined young people to follow their dreams.
Every gift is meaningful.
Ella Ceolin’s life was transformed when a UQ InspireU Camp encouraged her to pursue tertiary education. Several years later, Ella completed her degree in Biomedical Science and enrolled in a Doctor of Medicine.
Without the support of scholarships, she would not have been able to attend UQ and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
“Throughout my undergraduate degree, I was travelling over 3 hours a day, 5 days a week to come to university. My scholarships have enabled me to relocate closer to St Lucia, saving me over 15 hours of travel time each week,” Ella said.
Access to scholarships provides opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students like Ella to overcome barriers and become future leaders.
