Your support empowers emerging female leaders in engineering, computer science, architecture, planning and design.
The Women in Action Fund awards grants to women pursuing degrees in engineering, computer science, architecture, planning and design at UQ to undertake professional development opportunities off campus and around the world. These grants encourage recipients to broaden their educational experiences through study tours, student exchanges and short-term programs, enhancing their community and industry engagement.
By mobilising our best and brightest talent, we aim to nurture women who aspire to careers in these fields and drive gender equity beyond the university environment.
Since the Fund was established in 2015, generous donors have funded 50 grants to our students. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to enable 10 Women in Action grants to be awarded, securing the ongoing impact of the initiative for another year.
Every gift is meaningful.
"Receiving Women in Action grant allowed me to compete in the International Collegiate Mining Games in Kalgoorlie with UQ's first women's team. This experience not only broadened my practical understanding of metallurgical concepts but also enabled me to form meaningful connections with peers across disciplines. Securing first place in surveying and second in airleg drilling was a highlight of my year. I'm immensely grateful for the support that has enriched my education and career prospects." – Emeline, 2023 Women in Action grant recipient.
The difference you can make.
$500 – could support half of a Women in Action grant, significantly enhancing a student's ability to participate in transformative experiences such as international student exchanges and industry engagements.
$1,000 – could fully funds one Women in Action grant, directly empowering a deserving student to gain invaluable industry experience and academic enrichment through study tours or professional development activities.
