AMBASSADOR FAQs

What does an ambassador do?

UQ Giving Day ambassadors are a group of passionate advocates who help spread the word about UQ Giving Day with their networks. They share our messages and educate their networks about the cause they have chosen to support. Ambassadors are critical to our success!

How ambassadors choose to inspire their networks is ultimately up to them! They can share the message by email or social media or get involved by joining or hosting a fundraising event with their personal and professional networks. In the past our ambassadors have hosted a morning tea, organised a community walk and even a karaoke night!

HOW WILL I BE SUPPORTED DURING THE UQ GIVING DAY CAMPAIGN?

Ambassadors will have a dedicated team available via email to assist you with any questions regarding your ambassador role. Please contact us at givingday@uq.edu.au for any support you require.

CAN I PARTICIPATE IF I'M NOT LOCAL?

Yes! In fact, we would love to see UQ purple spread far and wide. There’s no need to adjust your time zone to take part. While the official UQ Giving Day is taking place on 16 October 2024 from 12am until 11:59pm (AEST), the website will be live from 00:00am on 2 October 2024 to 11:59pm (AEST) 20 October 2024 to ensure you can take part. Together, let’s paint the globe purple!

WHY ARE AMBASSADORS IMPORTANT?

Giving Day ambassadors are the key to success this Giving Day, acting as peer-to-peer influencers to spread the impact of Giving Day even further. Every year our global community comes together to support and welcome the next generation of ChangeMakers.

Who should become an ambassador?

Anyone passionate about one of our UQ Giving Day causes and willing to take action to create change in the community can sign up! This includes our alumni, community members, donors, staff, friends and families.

IS THERE TRAINING FOR AMBASSADORS?

Yes! Ambassadors will have digital access to a UQ Giving Day ambassador toolkit which contains a easy and fun web training experience to help you learn more about your role and provide you with tips and tricks to help you succeed.

WHAT CAUSES CAN I SUPPORT?

There are many funds to support this Giving Day – we encourage you to choose a fund you are most passionate about. You can support students, teaching, research, clubs, colleges and/or experiences at UQ.

No matter which cause you choose to support, 100% of your gift will go towards your selected cause.

What are we raising money for?

The lead cause for 2024 is The Queensland Commitment Fund. A gift to this Fund will enhance critical pathway programs, create need-based scholarships and provide accommodation support for students experiencing hardship – creating more opportunities for talented students to fulfil their potential at UQ.

Or you can choose from a range of other important causes here.
